20 July 2024

[Impact Stories](https://blog.ecochoice.org.nz/blog/tag/impact-stories)
Bio-Zyme is dedicated to providing environmentally preferable cleaning solutions that make a real difference. Recently, Jeremy O’Brien, the Team Leader of the Nutrition Center at the Wellington Zoo Trust, shared how Bio-Zyme products have transformed their cleaning practices. Jeremy’s insights shed light on the practical benefits and ecological impact of using Bio-Zyme, a product that aligns perfectly with EcoChoice Aotearoa’s commitment to sustainability. Check out the Q&A below!
**Adopting Bio-Zyme for Animal Enclosures**
Bio-Zyme: Are you using Bio-Zyme Multipurpose for cleaning animal enclosures?
Jeremy O’Brien: Yes, we use a combination of Bio-Zyme Multi (Multipurpose) and Industrial, depending on the specific needs of each situation. The only exceptions are our reptile and invertebrate enclosures due to their sensitivity to toxins.
**Ensuring Animal Safety and Cleaning Efficiency**
Bio-Zyme: How long do the animals need to be out of the enclosures during cleaning?
Jeremy O’Brien: The duration varies by species, but all areas are thoroughly rinsed with fresh water before the animals are allowed back in.
Bio-Zyme: Has Bio-Zyme made the cleaning process faster?
Jeremy O’Brien: Absolutely. Bio-Zyme has made certain tasks easier, reduced mould and buildup, and in some areas, eliminated the need for a water blaster.
**Enhanced Cleaning Performance**
Bio-Zyme: How does Bio-Zyme compare to the products you previously used?
Jeremy O’Brien: In the Nutrition Centre, we’ve streamlined our cleaning supplies from seven products to just three: Bio-Zyme Multi, Industrial, and Glass Cleaner. Bio-Zyme not only cleans effectively but is also extremely safe to use.
**Positive Impact on Drain Maintenance and Cost Efficiency**
Bio-Zyme: What changes have you noticed in drain maintenance since switching to Bio-Zyme?
Jeremy O’Brien: Since we started using Bio-Zyme, we haven’t had any blocked drains, which used to be a frequent issue.
Bio-Zyme: Was the transition to Bio-Zyme smooth?
Jeremy O’Brien: Yes, the transition was seamless. Shelley provided excellent support, and the mixing stations have saved both time and money. The team has found it much simpler to use a single product for various tasks.
**Financial Savings and Maintenance Improvements**
Bio-Zyme: Have you seen a reduction in spending on cleaning products?
Jeremy O’Brien: Yes, we’re now saving approximately $3,000 per year. The blending stations in various parts of the zoo further reduce product consumption.
Bio-Zyme: How have the washroom services improved?
Jeremy O’Brien: Since implementing Bio-Zyme, we’ve noticed a significant reduction in mould, cleaner floor tiles, and fresher-smelling toilets.
**Strong Recommendation for Bio-Zyme**
Bio-Zyme: Would you recommend Bio-Zyme to others?
Jeremy O’Brien: Bio-Zyme has been an excellent addition to Wellington Zoo. It’s an environmentally friendly, health-conscious, and cost-effective choice. I highly recommend it.
**Conclusion**
Jeremy O’Brien’s experience at Wellington Zoo underscores the effectiveness, safety, and environmental benefits of Bio-Zyme products. By adopting Bio-Zyme, the zoo has improved its cleaning efficiency, reduced costs, and lessened its environmental impact. It inspires us to see Bio-Zyme products making such a positive difference.
